On Tuesday 25 June 2013, the “Sport for Good Governance” Project (S4GG), managed by the EOC EU Office, held its Final Conference in Brussels, thereby concluding 18 months of intensive work. The Conference was held in the EU Representation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

On 15 and 16 April 2013 the “Sport 4 Good Governance” (S4GG) Project organised in cooperation with the Slovak Olympic Committee a first S4GG training session in Bratislava, Slovakia. This training session brought the project partners as well as interested federations together and was chaired by Gabi Freytag and Niklas Pott of the Leadership Academy of the DOSB.
The training session was designed as a “multiplier workshop” meaning that participants were taught how they can use the toolkit to educate federations and sport organisations on good governance principles and their implementation....
The partners of the EU project “Sport 4 Good Governance (S4GG)” met in the Olympic House for its mid-term seminar in Nicosia, Cyprus, from 17 to 18 September 2012. The aim of the meeting was to take stock of the activities implemented so far during this project and to prepare future measures.

Good governance and management of sports is a matter of public interest. This interest steadily increased over the years, as sport professionalized and commercialized blurring the border between amateur and professional sport. The Olympic Congress of Copenhagen 2009 stated that the legitimacy and autonomy of the Olympic movement depends on upholding the highest standards of ethical behavior and good governance.
